The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) preserves, manages and provides access to the nation’s audiovisual collection of nearly 2 million items. The collection includes home movies, newsreels, sound recordings, feature films, still images and oral histories.

The NFSA is the proud custodian of the Film Australia Collection, one of the largest and historically significant sources of archival and stock footage and stills, representing over 100 years of Australian Government documentary filmmaking.

There are many ways to access these collections, including online, at NFSA offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra or at access centres in the other capital cities.

Our expert staff can assist with collection research and provide guidance on copyright and licensing.
